Operation Jala Reksha
As part of the flood-related rescue operations in Kerala in 2018, the operation of the water vigil has been facilitated by the export of fishing boats for the rescue operation under the Vizhinjam Coastal Police Station. For the first time, 16 boats were contacted at Vizhinjam Christian Church on 16-08-2018 and 19 boats were sent to Thiruvalla for rescue purposes. Arrangements have been made for the transport of these boats to various stations in the district and the district administration, RDO and the Collectorate have been contacted to provide fuel for these vehicles and arrangements have been made to refuel from the pump operated by the civil supplies statue. He then contacted the Vizhinjam port office and arranged a crane to transport the boats. The civil supplies operated by the fisheries station, RDO and the Collectorate were arranged from the kerosene pump, 100 liters of kerosene for each boat, and oil for running the engine. On 17/08/2018 the fishermen in Poonthura area supervised the station to send ൨൧ boats to Pathanamthitta in boats kept near Vizhinjam Harbor. Subsequently 10 boats have been sent to Changanassery area in connection with the Vizhinjam Muslim Jamaat Committee on 19-08-218. The food and water needed for the fishermen who went for rescue work in these boats are linked to church committees and voluntary organizations. The station has been able to lift 50 boats for rescue operations and save many people.
