Fake Currency note case detected at Cumbummettu

      Crime No.  : 17/2021  489(B)(C)(D),34 IPC  On 22 January 2021 , an information received to IP SHO Cumbummettu police station, from Sri AG Lal, DySP Narcotic cell , Idukki about a team dealing with fake currency note in Theni district, Tamilnadu. On 23rd 2021 as per the direction of Sri.Rajmohan, DySP Kattappana  a team constituted under the leadership of G Sunilkumar IP SHO Cumbummettu Police Station with the team members of SI(G) V R  Haridas, SI (G) Madhu ,ASI(G) Sajikumar,  CPO 4278 Sajuraj ,3902 Suneesh, and CPO 3988 Joshy,4014 Maheswaran,CPO 4551 Anoop,CPO 4641 Tom Scaria  from Narcotic cell Idukki.

        The team could collect the details of one Sebastian who residing at Kumily with roots at Chinnamannur who is engaged in these types of activities.

        Through Sebastian, team could fix a deal with the fake currency gang. The gang through Sebastian informed that they can give Rs.6 lakh of fake notes for Rs. 3 lakh of original notes.

        The police team arranged One lakh fifty thousand rupees and made them believe that the deal is genuine.

        On 23rd evening the fake note team arrived at Cumbummettu junction in a Scorpio bearing registration number  TN 37 AY 6525 . The police team shown them Rs.150000/- rupees genuine note for exchange. In the Scorpio, four members were there, and they were taken into custody with the vehicle . The same time seen that two persons are running away by seeing the police action. The police party chased them and taken them into custody. The vehicle and the six persons were brought to police station and made proper entry in the GD about their custody. The vehicle searched but no materials could be collected as per information. They were questioned separately for the full night.

        On 24th January the police team succeeded in getting information about a motor cycle they kept near Cumbummettu junction. One of them confessed that the fake notes are kept in the motor cycle. The motor cycle was seized at 10.30 hrs with two lakhs rupees of fake notes. As per their confession seized 98200/- rupees fake notes from the top of upholstery part of the Scorpio which was seized and kept in the police station from the suspects. All the notes were fake notes of 100 rupees
