Robbery at former minister's house - Police arrest suspect within hours
Police have arrested a man who robbed the family home of former minister Shibu Baby John. Muthu Perumal's son Ramesh (Rasathi Ramesh, 48) was arrested from Pottan Vannanvillai village in Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu. Annamma John, the wife of the late Baby John, was robbed of 53 sovereign jewels. After the death of Baby John, his wife Annamma John lived in this house. They spend the night sleeping at Shibu Baby John's house next to the family home. The accused, who was released from Palakkad district jail on the 30th, reached Kollam by train and was walking around the railway station and its surroundings. He chose the house for the burglary after observing the houses in the area at night and realizing that no one was there at night. At night, he broke into the front door of the house with a machete and stole gold jewelery kept in a cupboard in the bedroom. A special team led by the district police chief handed over the CCTV footage of him to the Tamil Nadu police after realizing that he had disappeared from the scene following the robbery. He was later identified as having been jailed in several cases. He was nabbed from Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu by a special police team with the help of Tamil Nadu police. Police recovered 53 sovereign gold ornaments from him. Within hours of the robbery, police identified the suspect and arrested him within 24 hours.
District Police Chief Narayanan T IPS led by Assistant Commissioner of Police G.D. Vijayakumar, Kollam East Inspector Ratheesh. He was nabbed by a special team comprising O Saju, Seenu, Manu, Ratheesh and Ripu SCPO Sunil CPOs Ranjith, Sanoj, Binu and Jalaja.
