Mangalam Dam Police Station
Over half a million people dwelling about 102.78 sq.kms areas tiny migration sector and most of the land area is Forest. The station is situated on the south side of Mangalamdam – Parassey road in the land provided by Irrigation department. Mangalamdam water reservoir is situated about 750 m south of the station building which is one of the main attractive places of tourists. Mangalamdam water reservoir has been constructed on the Arivalkkayam River which originates from the Western ghats. This dam provides sufficient water for agriculture in Vandazhy, Kizhakkanchery, Vadakkanchery, Kannambra, Puthukkode etc Panchayaths. Alingal water falls in Kadappara is a famous water falls this is also a tourist destination. Thalikkakkallu and Kavilupara are the ST colonies in the station limits and there is narrow and hazardous route towards these colonies from Mangalamdam town.Thailikakkallu, Pappadappara, Kavilupara, Kadappara, and Ambittantharissu are the ST colonies and Pullanpadam, thekkekkadu, kallanakkara, Choorakkadu, Odukor, Kaniyamangalam, Nellikkode, korakkali, Karuppankudam, Elavampadam, Puthankulambu and Mannadi are the SC Colonies in the station limit.Since most of the people residing in the limit are emigrants, Christian community is adamant here and therefore several churches are also there in the limit. Year by year feast at Mangalamdam Saint.Zeviors, Saint Francis Church is famous celebration. Another important fair in the station limit is Sri Kurumali temple festival which is traditionally observed as part of the cultivation of agriculture and their yielding. The entire people in the surrounding celebrate and attend to this fair without any discrimination of caste or creed. Adorned elephants, display of fire works are the main attractions of this festivities.
