North Paravur police and District Anti Narcotic Squad have nabbed two youths for attempting to peddle 10 kg of ganja to the Middle East via Cochin International Airport Ltd (Cial) on Wednesday. The police arrested the youths, both residents of Neeleeswaram in Kasaragod, after chasing them along the North Paravur town area after they fled despite a signal from the police. Following tip-offs on the inflow of ganja to the city from northern districts, the police had intensified vehicle checkup along the arterial roads. The latest nab is in tune with the enforcement agency uncovering of two cases of drug trafficking to Kuwait two years ago. According to preliminary investigation, is part of a ganja racket in the Middle East, with focus on Kuwait and the UAE. A further probe revealed that the accused had travelled to foreign countries on several occasions for peddling ganja. Connections with extremist groups abroad are also being investigated by the police. The duo used to trick the commuters by seeking their help in transporting some ‘documents’ abroad, and would instead transport ganja via the ‘document file’
