A youth who went into hiding after stealing an elderly woman's necklace has been arrested

Paravur police have arrested a youth for robbing an elderly woman of her necklace. Krishnakumar (26, Tharish), son of Prakash Kumar, was arrested from Puthuvalvila house in Panar colony near Kallambalam President's junction in Ottoor village in Thiruvananthapuram district. The robbery took place on January 20 at noon at Paravur fort. He stole a two-and-a-half sovereign gold necklace from the neck of a 76-year-old woman who was trading in a shop near her house. One of the young men on the bike went into the shop and asked for a cigarette. Following the incident, a CCTV camera was installed on the road on this route. Police were able to identify the bike used to escape with the help of footage. Police found the bike abandoned near a private bar in Kottiyam. Police, with the help of fingerprint experts, identified the accused in several cases. One of the gang members was arrested by the police on January 27 near the Aluva railway station. He was apprehended from a house near Kallambalam during a search conducted by district police chief Narayanan TIPS on a tip-off that the man had absconded after being apprehended by the gang. Sub-inspectors Nitin Nalan, ASIs Pramod V and Ramesh led by Paravur Inspector A.Nisar. He was nabbed by a team comprising CPOs Sairam Sugunan and Premlal. He was remanded.
