AZHEEKODU Coastal Police Station

The Government of India Ministry of Home affairs have informed the need for evolving a policy for strengthening capabilities of State Police Force for saving the Country's Coastal Boarder against illegal cross border and criminal activities using the sea and Coast. So Government of India Ministry of Home affairs have approved the setting up of 8 Coastal Police Station in Kerala. Coastal Police Station, Azhikode is one of the above eight. As per the G.O (MS) 23/2010 Home Dated 23.01.2010, Coastal Police Station, Azhikode commenced functioning on 31.05.2010, of Survey No 444/2, building No. XVI/3 in 22 Cent of Azhikode Village, Eriyad Grama Panchayath, Kodungallur Taluk, Thrissur District. According to the Standard Operating Procedure, the jurisdiction of a Coastal Police Station will be mandatory 12 Nautical Miles in the Sea from the lowest coast line as published by the Government of India. The Coastal Police Station is situated at south west coastal area of Thrissur district, about 8 Km away from Kodungallur town. The Coastal belt was a vulnerable place for many kinds of illegal activities like smuggling, liquor and drugs trafficking etc. Our responsibility is to prevent the anti national elements which are trying for penetrating to our land other anti social elements that were affecting peaceful life of the Coastal people and the Nation.
