Kulathupuzha Police Station

Kulathupuzha Police Station lies at the eastern end of Kollam District which shares its border with Tamilnadu for many Kilometers. A major part of the Kulathupuzha Police Station limit is dense forest comprised in the Western Ghats. This Police Station is situated near the Thiruvananthapuram –Thenmala State Highway-2 and Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod State Highway-59.  Kulathupuzha PS  is 62 km away from Thiruvananthapuram, 58 km away from Kollam, and 9 km from Thenmala Eco-Tourism Project.

The world-famous ‘Kulathupuzha Ayyappa’  Temple is located 300 meters away from the Kulathupuzha Police Station. This temple is famous for the "Vishu Maholsavam". The legend of the temple is associated with the fishes of the nearby Kallada river. Ithikara and Kallada rivers also origin from Kulathupuzha Forest. Kulathupuzha is the birthplace of music legend "Raveendran Master”.

High-Tech Dairy Farm of the Kerala Livestock Development Board (Indo-Swiss project),  ITI Rubber Plantations (RPL), Oil Palm of India plantations, Forest Museum,  conservation site of Medicinal plants named 'Sanjeevani', Fresh Water Fish Hatchery are the main attractions of  Kulathupuzha Police station limit.

Kulathupuzha Police Station was opened on 01.09.1959 as per GO Rt.1344 Dtd. 23.07.1959. Prior to this was an Out Post of Punalur Police Station. At the time of opening this Police Station comprised of four villages Viz. Kulathupuzha, Edamon, Eroor, and Aryancavu. After the establishment of Thenmala, Eroor  and Anchal police stations, only Kulathupuzha and Thingalkarikkam villages came under the jurisdiction of this police station. Kulathupuzha is one of the largest Panchayat in Kerala State. The old Police Station building demolished on 05.08.2008 vides order No.G2-55255/05. The present Police Station was opened on 09.12.2010.
