Kundara Police Station

  The Kundara Police Station was opened on 31-08-1949 Vide Order No.H-3488/49 CS and the building is situated at Mulavana Village in Survey No.84/00 (Re Survey No. 491) comprised 78 cents of Government Land at Elampalloor Junction.  The new Police Station building opened on 05.07.2012, It is the heaviest police Station in Kollam Rural District. Most of its area is either politically or communally sensitive. This Police station is under the administrative jurisdiction of the Sasthamcotta  Sub Division.

This Police Station is situated about 1KM away from Kundara Railway Station. Another landmark is Sree Mahadevi Temple Elampalloor. The station situated adjacent to the Kollam Thirumangalam NH-744 and Kollam-Tenkasi Railway line.

Perayam, Perinadu, Panayam, Kottamkara, Elampalloor, Nedumpana, Pallimon constitute the geographical area of the station jurisdiction.

Kundara has a prominent place in the history of Kerala and the independence struggle of India. The place witnessed the historic Kundara Proclamation made by then Dalava of Travancore, Velu Thampi Dalawa on 1809 January 11. Veluthampi Dalava Smarakam is situated in this station limit.

Kundara has ample tourism potential due to its proximity to Ashtamudi lake and the Kanjiracode backwaters, Kanjiracode, and Ashtamudi Lakes situated at the north parts of the Police station.

Kundara was once the industrial hub of Southern Kerala, Industrial institutes like Electric and Allied Kerala Limited (KEL), Aluminium Industries Limited (ALIND), Kerala Ceramics Limited, Lakshmi Starch, Travancore Chemicals, and Technopark were flourished in Kundara P S Limit

Kundara is one among the 11 legislative assembly constituencies in the district of Kollam and Lok Sabha Constituency in Kollam. This police station shares its border with Kottiyam, Chathanoor, Kilikkollur, and  Anchalammoodu Police Stations of  Kollam City Police District.
