MANJERI Police Station

Manjeri Police Station came to existance on 1899 June 12. It is reliably learnt that this station was actually opened in 1879 April 14 th. A that time it was known as Eranad Police Station.  Now the station is functioning in the new building inaugurated on 1990 December 22. In Survey No. 125/6 of Manjeri Village Ernad Taluk, Malappuram Dt.  The station is functioning in the Heart of Manjeri town and situated near Manjeri Court Complex and Sub Jail Manjeri.
Manjeri Police Station comprises the following villages of Eranad Taluk. Manjeri, Payyanad, Narukara, Elankoor, Villages come under the jurisdiction of this Police Station and Part of Pookottur Grama panchayath, Thrikkalangode Grama Panchayath, Pulpatta, Anakayam also fall in this station jurisdiction. Manjeri Municipality, Anakkayam Panchayath, Pookottoor Panchayath, Thrikkalangode Panchayath and Pulpetta are in Manjeri Police Station limit. The border Police stations of Manjeri PS are Malappuram, Kondotty, Areacode, Edavanna, Wandoor and Pandikkad. 
Traditionally important places
Pookkottur is a village in Eranad taluk, near Malappuram town, Kerala, India.Pookkottur village is one of the many villages that dot the periphery of Malappuram District .It is very near to Nilambur. It is prominent as the centre of Mappila Rebellion of 1921 that shook the British Administration in the Malabar District of Madras Province. Now it is a Village under the Eranad Taluk.This small town Pookkottur is on National Highway 213. there is a state road from Pookkottur town to manjeri.
Historical Importance
Manjeri is a Town and Municipality in Malappuram District in the state of Kerala, India, with a population of 97104 inhabitants at the 2011 Census. It is situated 12 km from Malappuram and 45 km from Calicut railway station. Manjeri is at a distance of about 10 km from Malappuram. The municipality here came into existence in1978. Manjeri is a historically significant place. It used to be the headquarters of the erstwhile administrators of Mysore and was later the centre of the Moplah revolt of 1921. The place also gave birth to courageous leaders like Variamkunnath Kunjahammed Haji who fought against the British rule. A reference to the place can also be seen in many historical records about the Indian National Movement. In 1920, Manjeri hosted the famous Malabar District Political Conference presided over by Annie Besant. Now it is situated in Ernad Taluk and has emerged as a major commercial hub in Malappuram district. Pookkottur (the lone Muslim majority district in Kerala) in Malabar. The Khilafat Movement became popular in Pookkottur by the works of Ali Musliyar, Mudarris (religious teacher) at Melmuri nearby Pookkottur. Freedom fighters like Kattilasseri Moulvi and MP Narayana Menon went to Pookkottur and formed the Khilafat Committee here.
Historical Important Places
• 1921 War Memorial: Tombs of 460 Mappilas who were killed in battle during the Mappila revolt against Britain in 1921 at Pookkottur.
• "Pookkotur gate". The Pookkottur war memorial gate is dedicated to those killed in the Pookkottur battle.
Important Temple:

   1.Arukizhaya Siva Temple:-  This is an oldest temple  and a large number of hindu believers will attend the poojas in the temple.

   2. Karikkad Temple :- This is also an old age temple which situated 8 KM north away from the station. The temple is situated Thrikalangode panchayath.

    3. Kalikkavu Temple :- This temple is situated at Melakkam within Manjeri municipality 3KM away from Police station.

            In addition to the above there are small temples at Pullara, Thrikalangode, Elamkor, Pookalathoor and Thrippanachi on this station limit

Brief Histroy

Manjeri is famous during the ancient time onwards for grade. More over Manjeri is the only town where ring round system and subway adopted in Malappuram distrct more over this the one of the most developing city in the district.
