Notorious thief Blade Ayyappan arrested
The notorious thief Ayyappan @ Blade Ayyappan, S/o Raveendran,Oorukonathu House, Chembakamangalam Area, Attingal, Thiruvananthapuram District, who committed a house breaking theft in Kurattisheriamma Bhagwati temple in Mannar town on the night of August 30, was arrested. The accused, who was arrested and remanded earlier in connection with the theft case at the Karunagapally police station, was taken in police custody and conducted necessary investigations.
The Mannar police found that Ayyappan was the accused in both the cases by comparing the CCTV footage of the theft in Karunagapally with the CCTV footage collected from the Karunagapally police and comparing it with the CCTV footage from Mannar town. This made it easier for the Karunagapally police to nab the accused. Ayyappan started stealing at the age of 14 and had committed hundreds of thefts in various places in Kerala. He is more interested in stealing treasures of shrines irrespective of religion. He got his name from the habit that he always hides pieces of blade under the tongue in the mouth and attacks police officers with this blade. After committing theft at the Mannar temple, he reached Karunagappally on a bicycle stolen from the a house at Mannar and abandoned it near Karunagappally Railway Station. His mother and siblings live in the Karunagapally area. to find and investigate the culprit in the temple robbery. A large investigation team led by Inspector G Suresh Kumar were formed for the investigation and to trace out the accused. Sub Inspectors Anilkumar, and Arun Kumar, Senior CPO Harikumar, CPOs Siddique ul Akbar, Vishnu Prasad, Arun, Aneesh, Praveen and Kannan were the members in the investigation team.
