POCSO Case accused got rigorous imprisonment for 180 Years

A great result of the hard work of Team Mannar Police Station.

The Harippad Special Fast Track Court (POCSO) sentenced the accused Muraleedharan, age 73  to 180 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh on 14/07/2021 in a POCSO case, which was registered and investigated at the Mannar police station. He was sentenced to a total of 180 years  rigorous imprisonment (30 years  for each offence) and a fine of Rs 1,50,000 (25 thousand for each offence). If the fine is not paid, he faces an additional 6 months imprisonment for each offense. The court found that the accused had committed various offenses under sections 376(3) and 376AB of IPC and sections 6 r/w 5(l), 6r/w 5(n), 6 r/w 5(q), 6 r/w 5(j)(ii) Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012.  The accused were continuously raped and sexually assaulted a minor girl from 2004 to 2018, who lived in the same house under his care and made the victim pregnant.
