Meppadi Police Station

Meppadi Police Station was opened on 10.11.1917 and start functioning since 23.10.1989 vide GO (Rt) No. 2302/89 Home dated 16.05.1989. In building Number MP-IV/134 (A) later revised MP IX/153. The station limit covers four villages i.e. Kottapady, Moopainadu, Thrikkaipetta and Vellarmala in VythiriTaluk. This is bordering Police Station to Tamilnadu. Tamil speaking people are residing in the station limit. Tea plantation is major cultivation in addition to cardamom, coffee etc.There are many important temples and churches in the police station limit including the famous MariyammanKovil at Meppadi,and Glass temple KoottamundaThere are a few government offices functioning in the station limit including Government Press, Government Poly Technic and Cla III Government PWD Rest House. District AR camp and Swaminathan Research Foundation are situated in this police station limit. The tallest mountain peak (ChembraPeak ) is situated in this police station limit. One of the importanttourist centre "Soojipara waterfalls'' near Chooralmala town is in this PS limit. There are two other waterfalls namely Kanthanpara, Meenmutty in this station limit which attracts a lot of tourist during the whole year. One wireless repeater Station (ROMEO) situated at Chempra peak under this police station limit.
