Pooyapally Police Station

Pooyapalli Police Station was established on 01.06.1968. The jurisdiction of the station covers the entire villages of Odanavattam, Velliam, Pooyapalli , Velinalloor and some parts of Elamad village. This police station is under the jurisdiction of the Kottarakkara subdivision.

One of the popular festivals in the station area is the festival at the Velanallur Sri Ramakrishna Temple, which is famous for its 'Vayal Vanibham' marketing fair associated with the temple festival. The famous ‘Maruthimala’ in Muttara is an important eco-tourism destination within the station limits. The famous Kathakali Acharyan Sri. Raghavan lived in Velinalloor within the limits of this station.

This police station is located at Pooyapalli Junction, 12 Km south of the District Police Headquarters. The Ithikkara River flows for about 6 Km along the southern boundary of this police station.

Earlier, the police station was functioning as an outpost at Oyur Junction. It was discontinued in 1968 and as per G.O. RT.632 / 68 Pooyapalli Police Station was opened on 01.06.1968. Then Pooyappally Police Station was functioning in a rented building at Pooyappally and shifted to the present building on 06.11.1980 as per G.O. RT. 2374/80 Home dtd. 06.11.1980.
