Thenmala Police Station

Thenmala Police Station lies at the eastern end of Kollam District which shares its border with Tamilnadu for many kilometres. An important part of the Thenmala police station area is the dense forest of the Western Ghats. Thenmala is the first planned ecotourism centre in India. The main attractions of Thenmala are the Parapar Dam, the Palaruvi Falls in Aryankavu, the boating on the Dam Reservoir and the Deer Rehabilitation Centre at Ottakkall. Many foreigners from all over the world visit Thenmala every year.

The famous Ambanad Hill Ranges , adorned and nurtured by the nature itself, is also at Thenmala. The Aryankavu Check Post is one of the main gateways for goods vehicles to South Kerala, this check post is located at Thenmala Police Station border.

The world-famous Aryankavu  Ayyappa Temple is located in the Thenmala Police Station Limit. The Kollam-Thirumangalam National Highway and the Kollam-Madurai Railway pass through Thenmala.

 Thenmala Police Station was opened in 1972 by renovating the outpost of Kulathupuzha Police Station. This police station has functioned in a very old rented building owned by Riya Estate in Thenmala since 1974. Since 20.12.2019 this police station has been functioning in the inspection bungalow of the Kallada Irrigation Project at  Thenmala Dam Junction. Jurisdiction of Thenmala Police Station covers the area of Edamon, Thenmala, and Aryankavu villages.
