Kozhikode City Vanitha Police Station

Kozhikode City Vanitha Police Station is the first Women Police station in Asia. (GO (RT) 1669/73 Home dtd.23/10/1973 ). It was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India Smt. Indira Gandhi on 23-10-1973. Smt. M. PadminiAmma was the first Sub Inspector of this Police Station. At the time of establishment of the women Police station, its jurisdiction was confined into seven Police stations only (Town, Kasaba, Chemmangad, Nadakkavu, Panniyankara, Medical College and Meenchanda). Later the jurisdiction was extended to the whole Calicut City Police District.
