Dharmadam Police Station

Police Station was opened in 15-08-1962 vide GO MS 400 dtd 27.07.1962. It was started in a rented building situated in Dharmadam. Latter the station building shifted to building No.591 in survey No.23, Ward No.XI and block No.I in Thalassery Muncipality at the ground floor of ASP Office, Thalassery with effect from 09.07.1992, Now the station functioning in a government building which is situated at Dharmadam Panchayath Ward No.XIV-1,inaugurated on 30-09-2003. This police station limit is included within Thalassery Circle. the station limit is covering an area of 11.5 sq.kms and have population of 87942 as per 2001 Census. The Police Station limit includes the area of Dharmadam and Pinarayi Villages fully and part of Eranholi, Thalassery Villages. Vadakkumbad and Gumpti, Melur, Swamikkunnu, Pinarayi area are considered as politically sensitive areas. The Shornur-Mangalore railway line is passing through the station limit. The temple festival in Chirakkakavu, Andaloor kavu are very prominent. There is one 110 KV KSEB substation at parapram road pinarayi. Diet training centre, Palayad, Kannur University Centre and Govt.Brennan College are the prominent educational institutions with in the station limit. Sri. Pinarayi Vijayan, the Chief Minister of Kerala representing Dharmadam LA constituency. The river Anjarakandy flows as northern border of the police station limit. The island Dharmadam Thuruth and Chathodam Beach are also within the station limit.
