This is one of the oldest Police Station in Thrissur District. The correct date of opening is not available from the records kept in the Station. The old station was functioning at Tana Junction, Irinjalakuda. The Sub Divisional Police Office, Rural Vanitha Police Station, Rural Dog Squad, and ERSS Command and Control Room were also functioning in the Police Station compound. Janamaithri Police programme is the Backbone of Irinjalakuda Police Station. Janamaithry Police System introduced at Irinjalakuda Police Station on 06.04.2008 The well-established 74 Janamaithri Beats is functioning under the Guidance of Inspector of Police, Irinjalakuda and a Community Relations Officer. This is the first  ISO 9001 Certified  Janamaitry Police Station in India  and effectively implemented the programme with hearty co-operation of the entire peoples of  Irinjalakuda Police Station Limit.
