KALPAKANCHERY Police Station

This Police Station came to existence on-1919- . The new station building was inaugurated on 09.04.1999 in survey No. 122/V A of Valavnnur village, situated in Kadungathukund Town and north side of TirurPuthanathani public road  wide as per the GO (Rt) NO 3321/2007/home dted 05.07.2007 (with details/copy of the GO/relevant orders).  Perumanna, Puthur, Pattarnadakavu, Kurumbathur, Chandanakavu, Puthanathani, Kalpakanchery, Valavannur,Cheriyamundam, Ponmundam, Thuwakad are the  most important  places / Melpathur Bhattathiripad Monument is situated at Chandanakkav, Kadungathkund is a rural town which was built in way back 150 years ago. Before this time the place is consisting forest and living wild animals in the area. The Moppans family in Kadungathkund have a historic relationship with Vettathu raja and during the Padayottam time by Tippu Sulthan his soldiers were used the banyan tree at Nadayal Paramba for watching the enemies through the sea the place is known as Nadayal Paramba under the  PS Limit.The villages are Valavannur ,Kalpakanchery, Cheriyamundam,Ponmundam,Perumanna Klary,Ananthavoor,and Athavanad situated under the jurisdiction of Kalapakanchery Police Station limit
 

Etymology and history
       The name Kalpakanchery was chosen as it was the land of coconut trees. The Panchayath has many schools and had a weekly market on Wednesday. The weekly market was held in present day Melangadi, between Puthanathani and Kadungathukundu. The bigger towns like Tirur, Kottakkal and Valanchery are around 8 or 9 kilometres (5.0 or 5.6 mi) away. The panchayat was a part of the Kingdom of Tanur (Vettattnad) in medieval times. The Lord of Azhvanchery and Lord of Kalpakanchery were usually present at the coronation of a new Zamorin of Calicut. Some 20,000 people attended a Khilafat Movement meeting held in Kalpakancheri just before the 1921 Mappila rebellion.
