Kattappana Police Station

Ayyappankovil Police Station was opened on 01-04-1961 as per GO (Rt) No. 517/61,dated 30-03-1961 primarily with the object of dealing with cases connected with the eviction of encroachers from the forest area to clear the catchment area for the Idukki Hydro electric project. Government accorded sanction to shift Ayyappankocil Police station to the new building at Kattappana and renamed it as Kattappana Police station , vide GO (Rt) 1841/73/Home. dated 28-11-1973 . Kattappana Police station opened on 12-12-1973 by Sri. K V Oommen IPS, Supdt of Police, Idukki
