Mattannur Police Station

The Station was opened in the year 1872 during the tenure of British Rule with specific purpose of curbing the communal riot started in the area resulted after the murder of rich Hindu Land Lord Madhusoodana Thangal and 18 of family members in 1852. After the incident Mr.T.S.Trange, Member of the Sadar Adalath was appointed as commission to study the communal riot in Mattannur. It was as per the recommendation of T.S.Trange the Police Station was opened. There are 6 villages in Police station limit (Koodali, Pattannur, Kolari, Keezhallur, Pazhassi, Chavassery), Total Schools-63 (Govt. schools-13), Colleges-2, Hospitals-12, Temples-23, Mosque-14, Church-2
