MUZHAKKUNNU Police Station

The name Muzhakkunnu was originated from the word Mizhaakkunnu. This area was the centre of deer named Mizhaavu during ancient period. Muzhakkunnu and Thillankery are historically important places named Mizhaavu during ancient period. An Ancient and famous hindu temple named Sri Mridanga Shaileswary Temple situated in Muzhakkunnu. This temple was constructed during the reign of Pazhassi Raja and it was the family temple of Pazhassi dynasty. Muzhakkunnu Police Station formed on 28.06.2016 as per GO (Rt) No. 1615/Home/16 Dated 13.05.2016.The Station is functioning in Private rented building of Ward No. VII/60 of Muzhakkunnu Grama Panchayath at Kakkayangad Town. Police Station is divided in to two beat areas Muzhkkunnu and Thillankery. People from different religion, caste and mostly of Hindus, Muslims and Christians are living co- operatively. Major Political Parties are CPI (M), INC, BJP and IUML. In some areas strong enmity existing between CPIM and BJP workers. Thillankery are historically important places. The vegetation here is diverse. Mudakkozhi Mala, Peringanam Mala and Machoor Mala are located in Muzhakkunnu Police Station Limits. Jurisdictional area 56.10 Sq. KMs, total Population is 36410 (Male : 17499 Female : 18991 SC Population : 645 ST Population : 1614 ).
