NILAMBUR Police Station

This Police Station established on 1895 vide GO No 959 Dated 24.04.1895.The new station building was inaugurated on 28.11.1988 , which laying in survey No. 218/14 of Nilambur village and notified SRO 1300/88 declared building Number NP 1/678/(A) situated in Survey Number 218/14 of Nilambur Village in Nilambur Taluk of Malappuram District (with details/copy of the GO/relevant orders ). The station situated on the opposite side of South and North Forest Office building.Nilambur Kovilakam is the  most important historical  place.  Nilambur Canoli Plot, Teak Museum, Kakkadampoyil are the tourist centers within the police station limit.
 
Historical Importance
Canoly plot- One of the oldest Teak plantation in the world, the Canoli's plot is named after HV Conolly the Dist Collector of Malabar during the British rule who decided to plant teak to meet the growing demands of teak during that time. Along with a locals of forest conservator Chathumenon he successfully carried out the planting of new teak trees and discouraged felling of immature trees., One has to cross a beauitiful hanging bridge which is the longest in kerala built across the river Chaliyar to reach the Canoli plot. The plot developed in the 1840 s . The plantation also houses a big tree which has girth of 420cms
