Pantheerankavu Police Station

Nallalam Police Station, Kozhikode City situated at Cheruvanur Village in Cheruvannur-Nallalam Panchayath. This police Station has an area of jurisdiction extending to 45.29 Sq. Kms and a population of 1, 71,475. The station limit is covering 4 villages namely Olavanna, Perumanna, Pantheerankavu and Cheruvannur and three Panchayaths namely Cheruvannur-Nallalam, Olavanna and Perumanna.  This Police Station was formed on 15.05.1990 vide GO.MS 17/90 Home dated 31.01.1990. At that time the population in Station limit was only 1, 12,443.   During the year 1991 only 203 cases were reported in the Station now there is drastic escalation in the reporting of cases and its number has reached at 680 during the year 2008.  Recently Ramanattukara – Malaparamba bye-pass road has been constructed through this Police Station limit, thereby vehicular traffic has been increased many folds.  Following the construction of the bye-pass road hundreds of commercial buildings, industries and new village roads have been constructed.  Moreover, thousands of new settles came to this urban area from city limits.  There have been a rapid development in all walks of life in the area and further growth is expected following the inception of new business and commercial establishments.  The  Nallalam Police Station is located at Areekkad which is 22 Kms away from the Eastern boundary of the Station at Perumanpura.  It will take at about half an hour to reach there from the Police Station through Zig –Zag village road.   Since the aloofness of the Station from Pantheerankavu area has been abridged immediate intervention of the police.  The proposed area is politically and communally sensitive. The important incident like “Mampuzhakkad case - assaulting of nuns” was reported from this area.  Reporting of property cases from this area has been increased. Chaliyar River is flowing through this area and so many cases have been reported with regard to illegal sand mining.  In order to curb Sand Mafia immediate and intensive police action is inevitable in this area.  The above facts warrant urgent formation of a Police Station at Pantheerankavu.
