Chandera Police Station

               Prior to 1947, the station was an out post. This was shifted to Cheemeni as Police station 05.04.1947 along with another temporary station at Cheruvathur to watch the activities of communists and their underground activities. The police station at Cheemeni was shifted to Kinanur which is situated within Nileshwar PS limit as per GO(MS) No.3230/Home  dtd. 09/08/1949. The district Magistrate of South Canara opened this police station on 30.05.1953.This police station is functioning in own building and having total land of 183 cents. The police station is shifted to the new building on 31.05.1988 and the function was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Deputy Inspector of Police, Northern Range Calicut. .Now police station is functioning in a double storied concrete building at Chandera in Pilicode village and the old police station building is also situating in the station compound. A new building, Community Police Resource Centre has also been constructed in the same compound and  is functioning with effect from 10.06.2013.

               Chandera Police station is the southern most police station of Kasaragod district, the neighbouring station to south is Payyannur PS within Kannur district, Cheemeni PS is situated at the eastern side and Nileshwar PS is at the northern side. Arabian sea makes the western border of the station. The southern border of the station limit is Olavara bridge and the northern side of the station limit is Karyamkode bridge. The national highway-66 passes through the station limit from Kalikkadavu to Karyamkode bridge. Railway line of length about 20 Kms is also passing through the station limit. Three railway stations and two bus stands situating – Trikaripur & Cheruvathur within the limits of Chandera PS.

               Renovation work for improving the basic amenities to public was carried out during 2021.  This has changed the very atmosphere of the police station and public friendly.  The fund for the same was earmarked in the state budget 2020-21 and sanction was accorded for the same per order NO. H13-38130/2020/PHQ dtd. 24.11.2020.    The work was completed and new facilities were inaugurated by Sri. P.B.Rajiv  IPS, District Police Chief, Kasaragod on 26.02.2021.
