Kasaragod Police Station

The police station consists of 6 villages, viz, Adkathbail,  Kudlu, Kasaba, Mogral puthur, Shiribagilu, and Thalangara. Kasaragod is a confluence of seven languages. People of Kasaragod speaking Malayalam, Kannada, Tulu, Hindi, Kongini, Marati and Urdu. Hindus and Muslims are the major religions among population.  For the last many years, some places under Kasaragod police station have a bad history of sporadic communal violence. The Hindus and Muslims residing within this jurisdiction with fragile relation and they are in not good terms on communal point of view.

      Police station limit is highly sensitive in communal nature. During the year 2015 there is no major law and order issues related to communal incidents is reported in the station limits. In the year 2016, 4 communal cases are reported in which 3 of the cases reported related to the law and order incident after counting of votes in the KLA election 2016.   During the year 2017 3 communal cases were reported.  This year so far no major law and order issues related to communal is reported in the station limits.  Meepugiri, Choori, Uliyathdka, Eriyal,

                                                                  Karanthakkad, Kelugudde, Adkathvayal Anangoor, Paravanadukkam, are vulnarable and communal sensitive areas. Every minor incidents may turns in to an issue of communal clash between Muslims and Hindus. It is more aggressive during the time of festival seasons. Muslims and Hindus use Green and saffron colored decorations to show their power and supremacy in their strong holds. This tendency creates ill feelings among both communities and even a minor incident of devastation of decorations and festoons may lead to law and order issues, that detrimental to communal amity.

      There are many important ancient religious worship places in the station limits.  Malik Deenar Juma Masjid, Thalangara, Muhayadeen Juma Masjid Nellikkunnu, Mallikarjuna Temple, Varadaraja Venkitaraman Temple, Cheerumba Bhagavathy Temple Thalangara, Kurumba Bhagavathy Temple Nellikkunnu, Arya Karthyayani Temple Korakkod, Durga Parameshwari Temple Meepugiri are famous among them.     Ganesotsavam, Navarathri Festival, Nabi Dinam are the religious festivals, that celebrating with great pomp and spender. Traditional and other cultural events are giving rich colour to the religious celebrations. Since, there is very chance to turn even minute incident to a communal unrest.  Strong and sufficient Police Bandobust are used to arrange every year for the smooth functioning of these ceremonies and to avoid any untoward incident.

       Kasaragod is bearing the feather as District head quarter, so that many political or other organizations selecting government and central government offices for their protest agitations demonstrations, siege, dharnas etc.  In the year 2009, a public meeting arranged by IUML at

Kasaragod town was turned into violence and as a last resort, the then Superintendent of Police, Sri. Ramdas Pothan, IPS was forced to use his service revolver to get rid from the hooligans, in which one party worker was lost his life. Subsequently another youth from Muslim community was hacked to death at Karanthakkad in Kasaragod. Pursuant to this law and order issue, a string of communal and other issues was broke out at Kasaragod and its downtowns. Strict and strenuous police action could prevent the proliferation and to apprehend the assailants in the shortest possible time.

In the year 2013 July (07/07/13) at JP Colony one Sabith, 19/13 was murdered by somebody due to communal enmity in which 7 accused persons were arrested as such during the year 2014 December (22/12/14)one Zainul Abid was attacked by some Hindu youths and he succumbed due to his injuries at Kasaragod Town.  In the year 2015 no major communal incidents.  During the year 2016 march (20/03/17) at Old Choori one Riyas Moulavi was murdered by Hindu youths.   This case was investigated by the special team of CBCID.  All accused persons were arrested and the case was charge sheeted.  In connection with this incident at about 39 cases were reported at Kasaragod Police station on various law and order issues.  

       Kasaragod Police Station was come into existence on 02.01.1865, and started its function in a government building at Taluk office compound and the same was shifted to the present building on 30/12/1988 as per Government Notification No G O (Rt) No. 4960/88/Home dtd 29.09.1988. Sri.R. Padmanabhan IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Range, Calicut was the high dignitary who inaugurated the building
